In my younger years I always considered the Dollar Stores in my area to be full of cheap knock off disposable merchandise only fit for door prizes and raffle gifts. About a year or so ago a Dollar General store opened in my area and I realized that this location had some finer points. In addition to the cheap knock off toys and inexpensive merchandise, out location also sold frozen food, cold foods, snacks, and a few pantry staples. Our area also has a few Dollar Tree stores as well as a Family Dollar.
Now that I'm an adult and even have an infant to worry about, I'm interested in stretching every penny I can find. With that being said, I wondered what sort of menu and diet could really be found at out local thrifty store locations. With a bit of creativity and some down right luck, I found that utilizing these Dollar Stores could actually greatly reduce my grocery bills without sacrificing flavor and quality.
